A freight train loaded with 41 containers of goods departed from Guangzhou for Hanoi on Tuesday.
This is the first freight train route launched by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to Vietnam, an ASEAN country.
It will take about four days for the train to reach its destination. The 99.8 thousand tons of goods consists of raw material, up-market furniture and so on with the value of about 94,400 U.S. dollars.
The new route is expected to boost the high-quality development of countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative, said Sinotrans Ltd., one of the route's operators.
