Zhang Guimei, the principal at Huaping Senior High School for Girls, has been honored with the title 'Role Model of the Times' for her dedication to the education of female students. The school in Lijiang, southwest China's Yunnan province, is the country's first public high school for girls in an impoverished area. It has created a miracle over the past 12 years: 1804 graduates have been admitted to colleges.
