Memet Mehsum lives in Bachu County, an oasis in the Taklamakan Desert in the south of Xinjiang. In a place where fishery provides a lifeline for locals, Mehsum followed his father's footsteps and became a fisherman. Though a simple life, he feels fortunate to live by the water and rejoices in the prospect of passing these skills to the next generation.
